Can you believe this? Research that supports skipping eating before exercise to maximize fat burning potential and plenty of it! Research yes, but not much proof that skipping eating before exercise actually helps you to burn more fat. Advice to exercise before eating is an overhyped statement. The best time to exercise is the time that works best for you, before or after eating says other research experts. You know what I do? I try to eat a little something before exercising, most preferably they say to eat some fruit. I will eat just enough to not start getting hungry pains while exercising. Then, after exercise I always drink a Life's Abundance Plant Protein Shake. This seems to work for me. Whether or not I burn more or less fat, I do not know. I just know this is a routine that helps me get through a work out without hunger pains and to recover without feeling that "let-down" kind of feeling or weak after exercise. I measure my progress by "how I feel" before, during and after exercise.
What about this one. How does exercise affect our memory and cognitive abilities?
Researchers say people who are more physically active are less likely to develop memory loss than those who are sedentary. Active people are less likely to be diagnosed with dementia and their cognitive function declines more slowly. Yet....when researchers put healthy people on treadmills several days a week for weeks or months to see if they do better than sedentary people on memory and other tests, "there usually isn't a large effect on cognitive function."
Multiple studies have been done on strength exercises. Most of them don't provide us with a whole lot of proof that doing strength exercises improve the brain as it does the body. However, we are still told what is good for the body is also good for the brain. I guess that means, "just do them and see what the end will bring." I do strength exercises mainly for "strength" in major muscles. I hope they benefit my brain as well. I will say when I exercise I feel better overall, but whether or not my brain and memory is being improved, I am just as "dense" as most of our studies prove to be. People sure do like to study things! Source: Nutrition Action April 2017 News Letter
I do feel like we are more apt to win at the game of living if we eat as healthy as we can, exercise at least some, and get plenty of rest. That seems to be the tune most everybody listens to the most these days, but to whom to we owe what is right to eat and not eat, how much to exercise and how much not to exercise and how much and not so much exercise? I suppose it is to the same researchers who like to study these kind of things.
