A typical day's meal times come mostly from restaurants. There might be a cocktail hour and steak dinner with peers to end a busy day creating an extremely unhealthy eating patterns, most likely "tasty" but still yet unhealthy.
A team of researchers calls this eating pattern "a social-business" pattern of eating. The team's findings were published Aug. 23, 2016 in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The study was based upon more than 4,000 male and female bank employees, ages 40 to 55, with no heart disease symptoms.
Surveys stated about 40% of these people followed a plant-based Mediterranean-style diet, another 41% followed a Western diet that included animal-based foods.
The 19% that followed a social-business eating pattern accompanied by frequent snacking and restaurant meals featured red and processed meat, sugary drinks and alcohol. Imaging tests showed people in this last group were more likely to have early signs of atherosclerosis than people in the other two above mentioned groups.
